Welcome to the MyStyle Salon — a place for information, conversation, acceptance, and fun. Body PositiveAt MyStyle we believe that every woman is uniquely beautiful. But we also know how hard it is to go through every day bombarded with images of young and "perfect" models and celebrities (who are airbrushed to within an inch of their lives). You see millions of advertisments for diets, cellulite creams, Botox®, hair dye, plastic surgery . . . The message you get from all this? You are supposed to believe that you are not okay just the way you are. And when you go to a store and try on item after item of clothing that doesn't fit you well, you can start to feel that there really is something wrong with your body. At MyStyle we're throwing away that idea. Your body is just fine—it's the ill-fitting clothes that are the problem! Currently, mass-produced clothing is made according to "generic" sizes and body shapes. But no woman is generic—we are all unique! Some of us have hips, some have curves, some have angles, some have muscles, some are tall, some are short . . . Body positive is about accepting and loving your body just the way it is—celebrating the wonderful variety of beauty all around us and in ourselves. Sure, there may be things you want to work on—exercising, eating right, looking your best—but it's time to stop listening to the voices in the media and in our own heads that tell us we aren't good enough. Because we are good enough: we're beautiful, sexy, and just fine the way we are. We're also smart and competent and mothers and lawyers and teachers and daughters and saleswomen and engineers and friends and writers and sisters and a thousand other things . . . And we are fabulous! Women we love — Be inspired by these women who accept and love themselves Body positive links.
